Inter Emirates Weekend 2007: Photography Competition Guidelines and Judging

Inter Emirates Weekend 2007

22 March - 24 March

Photography Competition Guidelines and Judging

In conjunction with IEW2007, there will be a photography competition with winning entries selected by those attending IEW2007. Three winning entries will be selected with prizes presented at the dinner to be held Friday, March 23rd.

The competition is open to amateur photographers who are members of the Al Ain chapter of the ENHG, the Abu Dhabi chapter of the ENHG, or the Dubai Natural History Group.

Submitting Entries

Photographs must have a natural history theme and have been taken in the UAE or Oman. A "natural history theme" would include, for example, archaeology, insects, mammals, plants, birds, geology, architecture, landscapes, culture and heritage, environmental concerns, reptiles, and the people of the UAE and Oman. Photographers must submit only photographs they have taken.

Prints may be oriented horizontally or vertically, but the long dimension of the print (without matting) must be between 8 and 14 inches (20-35 cm)

On the back of each entry must be affixed a statement from the photographer with all of the following information (a Microsoft Word template for this is available at http://www.enhg.org/alain/photocontestlabel.doc ) :

  • Photographer
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Title of photo
  • Where photo was taken
  • Approximately when the photo was taken

(Please be fairly specific when specifying where the photo was taken. Say "Dubai Creek" or "Al Ain Oasis" rather than "UAE". Say "Nizwa Souq" or "Wadi Khutwa", not "Oman".)

Each photographer may enter a total of up to two (2) photos. Photographs should be presented to IEW2007 organizers at any time Thursday 22 March or until 5 pm Friday 23 March.

Judging

Photos will be on display at the dinner of the Inter Emirates Weekend (Friday, March 23rd).

Each individual attending IEW2007 will be given a ballot to vote for up to three (3) entries. The winners will be announced during the dinner and the prizes presented at that time.

Enjoy and good luck!
