2002 ENHG Photography Competition: Guidelines and Rules

2002 ENHG Photography Competition: Guidelines and Rules

The competition is open to amateur photographers, who are members of the Al Ain chapter of the ENHG.

Photographs must have a natural history theme (categories listed below) and have been taken in the UAE or Oman

Photos (prints) must be mounted (matted)

Prints may be oriented horizontally or vertically, but the long dimension of the print (without matting) must be between 8 and 14 inches (20-35 cm)

On the back of each entry must be affixed a statement from the photographer with all of the following information:

  • Photographer
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Title of photo
  • Where photo was taken
  • Approximately when the photo was taken
  • Category of competition

(Please be fairly specific when specifying where the photo was taken. Say "Dubai Creek" or "Al Ain Oasis" rather than "UAE". Say "Niezwa Souq" or "Wadi Khutwa", not "Oman".)

Entries not adhering to these rules may be displayed, but will not be judged

The eight categories which will be judged are:

  1. Archeology
  2. Architecture
  3. Culture and Heritage
  4. Environmental concerns
  5. Flora and Fauna
  6. Landscapes
  7. People of the UAE and Oman
  8. Miscellaneous (photos that do not easily fit into another category)

Each photographer may enter a total of up to six photos. The deadline for entries is the ENHG meeting of November 12. Entries may be handed to Jerry Buzzell or to any other member of the Committee, at any time until this deadline.

The decisions of the judges are final. All photos will be displayed at the Annual General Meeting of the ENHG (November 26); winners will be announced and prizes given at that time.

Although the artist retains copyright, the ENHG assumes that the photographers who enter the competition give us permission to scan all photos, make up a CD-ROM with the photos, display reproductions (in a poster), and display the photos on the website.

Enjoy and good luck!
